Red flower variety. One of the most successful exhibition varieties, with long smooth shapely pods that can grow up to 50cm(20in) long. A Best Buy variety as recommended by the Gardening Press and Consumer Groups. Runner Beans Originally introduced to Europe from Central America as climbing ornamentals. They thrive in rich, well dug, moisture-retentive soil. Protect from late frosts and keep well watered. Grow up cane wigwams or netted frames. Recommended by Christine Walkden in BBC Gardeners World Magazine (January 2015 edition): “Crops reliable in a wide range of conditions and soil types, resulting in long, slender pods that taste good” Also recommended by Alan Titchmarsh and Matt Biggs
